About Hermanos Hernáiz El Pedal Blanco

Hermanos Hernáiz El Pedal Blanc is a monovarietal Viura wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja by the Hermanos Hernáiz-Finca la Emperatriz winery.

Hermanos Hernáiz El Pedal Blanco is part of the collection of Zone Wines by Hermanos Hernáiz, makers of the famous Finca la Emperatriz. To make this collection the winery uses grapes from various plots in the Rioja Alta, taking advantage of its different soils and microclimates while always seeking to make wines with a fresh and fruity profile.

The vineyards for Hermanos Hernáiz El Pedal Blanco are in the Rioja Alta. Those from Fuenmayor and Cenicero are trained in the traditional bush system and those of Baños de Rioja are wire-trained. Overall, the vines are on average 35 years old. The harvest is carried out manually using "bins", large 150 kg boxes.

To vinify Hermanos Hernáiz El Pedal Blanco the grape is pressed in an inert atmosphere to avoid oxidising the must. Afterwards, these are discharged by gravity into cement tanks, thus removing burrs, earthy remains and impurities in the musts. They then ferment in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 16 ºC. Fermenting at low temperature, enables the fruity aromas of the grape to be extracted and preserved better. After the wine has fermented, it remains in contact with the fine lees for a month. This procedure will provide the wine with more body and creaminess.

Hermanos Hernáiz El Pedal Blanco 2022 is a well-defined wine, exhibiting a straw yellow hue, clear and lustrous. The nose is greeted with immediate subtle scents of white fruit and floral undertones. On the palate, it is delightfully sweet, boasting a seamlessly integrated acidity. It is both refreshing and persistent.
2018 El Pedal Blanco 2018 has aromas of ripe white fruit, with a light floral touch. On the palate it is fruity and sweet, with a lively acidity that gives it freshness.
