About Bodega Cerrón El Sentido de la Vida

El Sentido de la Vida is an ecological, wood-aged red wine made by Bodega Cerrón with the Monastrell and Syrah varieties in the D.O. Jumilla, in the Murcia region (Spain). 
 
Bodegas Cerrón is a family project in the municipality of Fuente-Álamo, in Albacete, whose aim is to preserve and enhance the local winemaking traditions that have been passed from generation to generation. To do this, they recover abandoned vines lying between mountains at an altitude of 800 to 850 metres above sea level and cultivate them using ecological agriculture. 
 
El Sentido de la Vida comes from a selection of old vines planted in limestone soils that are cultivated using organic methods and no chemical products. In terms of the climate, these grapes lie in an area with significant temperature contrasts between day and night, the yields are very limited and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
 
In the winery, the El Sentido de la Vida grapes are cold macerated and spontaneously fermented with native yeasts in clay barrels and open barrels. The wine is then aged in clay barrels and French oak barrels for 16 months and a further 8 months in the bottle. 
 
El Sentido de la Vida is a tribute to the family’s paternal grandmother and to all the women who have passionately worked the land and contributed to vine cultivation. A fresh wine that us also well structured and that gives meaning to all the effort that goes into it.

El Sentido de la Vida 2022 boasts an enticing fruity profile, prominently featuring notes of red fruits such as strawberries and cherries, complemented by a hint of pepper jam and subtle caramel undertones. On the palate, it is well-structured with smooth tannins, offering a refreshing quality that makes it highly enjoyable and easy to drink. Its fluid texture invites one to savour it on any occasion, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a light yet flavourful wine.                      
2016

El Sentido de la Vida 2016 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of candied red fruit, spicy notes and hints of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate it is fresh and smooth but with a marked structure. An easy drinking wine with an impressive amount of fruit and a very balanced acidity.
