About Etchart Privado Cabernet Sauvignon

Arnaldo Benito Etchart, founder of the Argentine winery Etchart, used to say that wine is an aesthetic thing. For him, wine was not just a drink, but an artform in itself, a cultural manifestation, a form of liquid poetry that expresses the soul of the land and the work of man. His perspective embraced the idea that wine is not just a sensory experience, but also an expression of a region’s creativity, history and identity. In his winery in La Florida, Cafayate, Salta province, at the foot of the Andes Mountains (over 1,750 metres above sea level), he knew how to set the course for quality wine from Salta better than anyone. This was more than achieved through the collaboration of expert winemakers like the great Michel Rolland. Today his heritage is in the hands of the French group Pernod Ricard which, pursuing the same objective of excellence, challenges the desert environment where the vineyards are planted. An arid landscape that might not have much water, but these extreme conditions can offer a unique temperature variation for the cultivation of excellent quality grapes.

As part of their collection, Bodegas Etchart presents a line of single-variety wines from unique and special plots. This is how Etchart Privado Cabernet Sauvignon was born, a high-altitude wine (sitting over 1,750 metres above sea level) that takes advantage of the pure air, significant temperature variations and sporadic rainfall to achieve a complex, concentrated and quality Cabernet Sauvignon. After a manual harvest, the grapes are destemmed to begin maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts. Finally, it rests in the bottle for 4 months before being released for sale.  

The result is Etchart Privado Cabernet Sauvignon, a carefully selected red wine from a single plot, with exclusive and distinctive characteristics that show how it has adapted to the warm climate of Cafayate. A very expressive Cabernet Sauvignon that reveals the unmistakable stamp of this prestigious Salta winery that has managed to challenge the desert better than anyone.
