About Eulogio Pomares Carralcoba Albariño

Carralcoba is the name of the Albariño vineyard that the winemaker Eulogio Pomares uses to produce his wine from a single varietal plot Eulogio Pomares Carralcoba Albariño, a wine fermented in a foudre and aged on its lees, from the D.O. Rías Baixas.

The vineyard of Eulogio Pomares Carralcoba Albariño is made up entirely of the Albariño variety. The vines are about 70 years old and have been reproduced directly by layering, a technique that involves burying a shoot from a live branch from which another plant will grow. The soil is especially granitic, there are about 1,200 plants per hectare trained on trellises and it is about 50 metres above sea level.

The wine Eulogio Pomares Carralcoba Albariño is fermented in 1,200 litre chestnut foudres and is subsequently aged for about 8 months in barrels on its fine lees. During the ageing, no racking is performed.

Eulogio Pomares Carralcoba Albariño is a very fresh wine, with a good acidity, where fruit and creaminess are perfectly integrated. It is a unique wine of which only 2,500 bottles are produced.

Eulogio Pomares Carralcoba Albariño 2022 is unveiled as a white wine of vibrant youthfulness and a delicacy that caresses the palate. Olfactorily, it unfolds a spectrum of aromas with prominent citrus notes and hints of green apple, interwoven with a gentle zephyr of white blossoms. Upon tasting, its vivacity is unmistakable, carrying with it a distinctive minerality and a saline nuance that defines its essence. This Albariño is an invitation to savor its purity and crystalline profile.
2017 Eulogio Pomares Carralcoba Albariño 2017 has aromas of fresh stone fruit and citrus. On the palate it stands out for its freshness and salty minerality. At the same time, the ageing undergone in chestnut barrels gives it a roundness that balances the different elements of this wine.
