About Faustino I Gran Reserva

Faustino I Gran Reserva is a red wine from the D.O. La Rioja produced by the winery Faustino. This wine is a blend of the tempranillo, graciano and mazuelo grape varieties.

Following the harvest and upon arrival at the winery, the grapes for Faustino I Gran Reserva undergo fermentation at a controlled temperature of 30°C.

Subsequently, the must of Faustino I Gran Reserva undergoes maceration for 27 days.
In the final stage, after completing all necessary winemaking processes, Faustino I Gran Reserva ages for 28 months in American and French oak barrels.
Before bottling, Faustino I Gran Reserva is refined over an extended period in the bottle.

Faustino is a historic winery in La Rioja with over 650 hectares of the finest vineyards spread across the region. It is one of the most prestigious wineries with the highest export volume in the national landscape.

2016

Faustino I Gran Reserva 2016 boasts a deep ruby hue with intense brown highlights. On the nose, it presents a complex and elegant aroma, with prominent ripe fruits such as plum and cherry, alongside notes of sweet spices, tobacco, and toffee. On the palate, it is structured and fruity, with flavours of black and forest fruits. The acidity is superb, the tannins are exceptionally well-integrated, and it has a very long finish, revealing a concentrated profile.
2015

Faustino I Gran Reserva 2015 exudes richness and character from the very first sip. This wine presents itself in a beautiful cherry red hue with bright garnet highlights and a captivating tile-coloured rim. On the nose, it offers high and complex intensity, with a symphony of aromas of spices, fine woods, toasted notes, and a balsamic touch, evoking hints of leather and vanilla. On the palate, it stands out for its balance, power, and enveloping tannins, while its meatiness and elegant acidity seal it with finesse. A remarkable choice for its aromatic complexity and structure.
2014

Faustino I Gran Reserva 2014 exhibits a subtle elegance with remarkable complexity. On the nose, it offers concentrated blackberry and black cherry aromas, accompanied by notes of dried black mushrooms and dark spices. On the palate, it is a full-bodied, juicy, and fleshy wine, with fine tannins that provide smoothness. Its finish is long and persistent, though it still feels reserved. This gran reserva from Rioja is currently accessible but has significant potential for improvement in the coming years.

2001 Fleshy and elegant. Powerful, enveloping tannins present. Appropriate elegance and acidity to pair perfectly with food. Good finish. A wine that successfully combines elegance and acidity.
Deliciously “decadent”. Highly recommended.

Red picota cherry colour with maroon reflections and brick-red rims. Medium-high robe. Bright.

Intense and complex in the nose. Spicy notes and fine woods prevail, with roasted and balsamic touches. Accompanied by a pleasant liquorice presence.
