The Northern Rhône Valley, Syrah, and centuries of tradition and expertise. Can anyone top that? The bidding starts strong, and we go all in with Ferraton Hermitage Les Miaux, a single-varietal of Syrah that we can assure you will be nothing short of remarkable.
Not just one, but two distinct plots contribute to the life of this red wine cultivated within the A.O.C. Hermitage: Les Dionnières (rich in clay, limestone, and pebbles) and Le Méal (terraced with an abundance of round pebbles). This is but a glimpse of the mosaic of terroirs so characteristic of this southeastern region of France, situated on the left bank of the river. Thus, the cultivation of Syrah in this area becomes a spectacle and a repertoire, —worthy of recognition—, where depending on the soil mix, the variety will display one facet or another. In the case of Ferraton Hermitage Les Miaux, this lot belongs to the three hectares of vineyard that Ferraton Père & Fils owns within this appellation, which are cultivated biodynamically. This decision was made by the family around 1998, when they began to receive guidance from the renowned Michel Chapoutier. Today, under his leadership,—and although managed independently from his other wineries—, Ferraton Père & Fils has become a benchmark.
At the winery, Ferraton Hermitage Les Miaux is destemmed and vinified in concrete vats, where it will ferment and macerate for about four weeks. In this regard, this material is tremendously important, endowing Ferraton Hermitage Les Miaux with a set of characteristics (such as the maintenance of a constant temperature) that will make it unique and unparalleled. Ultimately, there will be a complete transition to oak, where Ferraton Hermitage Les Miaux will mature for between 14 and 16 months (depending on the vintage).
After all this, the winning choice is undoubtedly Ferraton Hermitage Les Miaux. Did anyone doubt it?
