About Finca Antigua Merlot

Finca Antigua Merlot is a red wine from La Mancha prepared by Finca Antigua, a winery founded by the Martinez Bujanda family in 2003. This is the fifth and final winery of the family as they manage 4 other wineries (Finca Valpiedra, Viña Bujanda, and Bodega Finca Montepedroso and Bodega Cosecheros y Criadores).

The climate in La Mancha is characterized by extremely continental and freezing winters and very hot summers. The large seasonal temperature variation is perfect for a proper ripening of the grapes. The climate is dry because the mountains act as a natural barrier to the humid fronts coming from the sea. This wine is a varietal Merlot (100%) from Sierra de la Higuera, its own vineyard of 40 hectares is planted 855 metres above sea level, on loam soil high in calcium carbonate. In terms of processing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with temperature control. Subsequently, the wine goes through a maceration for 18 days and finally a short aging for 5 months in French oak barrels.

The palate is silky, tasty and very fresh. It is a wine with structure, a good acidity and moderate tannins. Fruit and smoky notes appear. Long finish.



Cherry red with violet hues. Clean and bright.



The nose is intense. Black fruit aromas appear together with notes of white flowers and toasted aromas from the barrel.

A characteristic cherry red color and trim for a wine with violet aromas, floral and spicy.

Light touches of toffee and roasted aged for 5 months in French oak barrels. Polished tannins and medium acidity balanced with alcohol.
