About Finca Moncloa

Finca Moncloa is a barrel-aged red wine made by Finca Moncloa with the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tintilla de Rota, Syrah and Petit Verdot varieties in the V.T Cádiz (Andalusia).

The González Byass winemaking family founded Finca Moncloa in the Arcos de la Frontera (Jerez) area with the aim of making quality wines with recovered strains. Part of the “Grandes Pagos de España” association, the most important factor in their wines is the terroir, and every bottle expresses the character of the land in Cádiz.

The Finca Moncloa wine comes from a spectacular terrain between the Guadalcacín reservoir and the Sierra Valleja. The team use traditional agriculture with low yielding, old, recovered vines. The harvest is carried out manually with the grapes selected in the vineyard itself in 15 kg boxes.

In the winery, the Finca Moncloa grapes are destemmed and crushed, then cooled to around 12ºC. Then fermentation and maceration begins in stainless steel tanks for two weeks at a controlled temperature. The wine is then transferred to French and American oak barrels where it remains for 12 months. Once the barrel aging process has finished, the coupage is created and bottled.

Finca Moncloa is a blend of different red varieties that shows that Jerez is capable of making more than just fortified wines. A powerful but silky red.

2020
Finca Moncloa 2020 is a red wine where the aromas of ripe fruits, both red and black, prevail, accompanied by delicate floral, spicy, and balsamic nuances that intensify when aerated, alongside subtle toasty notes from the oak aging. On the palate, it is balanced, with a slightly sweet entry that gives way to a smooth yet structured body, rounded tannins, and well-integrated acidity. Its long and persistent finish leaves a lasting impression with fruit, spice, and notes of wood and roasted flavours.
 
2016 Finca Moncloa 2016 is a mature wine with aromas of ripe red and black fruits with floral notes and spicy, toasted and balsamic touches. On the palate it is balanced, concentrated and silky. It reveals a good acidity and soft tannins. The finish is persistent and pleasant.
