About Finca Rodma Avizor

In Quintanilla de Arriba, a quaint village in Valladolid, the family of Bodegas y Viñedos Finca Rodma has been nurturing the land and vineyard for generations. For over 80 years, this lineage has passionately cultivated the DO. Ribera del Duero, with patience and deep respect for nature, crafting wines that narrate the story of each plot, such as Finca Rodma Avizor.
 
Perched at the heights of the estate, between 650 and 980 metres above sea level, Finca Rodma Avizor emerges as the finest example of the untamed and exquisite character of the tempranillo that breathes life into this red wine. The vines, over 40 years old, yield sparse clusters brimming with intensity, a result of the terroir in the area, which boasts a blend of limestone, clay, sandy, and stony soils. This is complemented by high sunlight exposure and a significant diurnal temperature variation, ensuring the optimal ripening of the tempranillo.
 
Finca Rodma Avizor is sustainably cultivated and hand-harvested in 15 kg crates, which are transported directly to the winery. There, at the facilities of Bodegas y Viñedos Finca Rodma, it is meticulously selected before proceeding to the destemmer. Throughout the process, Finca Rodma Avizor is moved by gravity and transferred to oak vats where it undergoes a pre-fermentation maceration. Following this, the indigenous yeasts begin their work until Finca Rodma Avizor is fully transformed into wine and undergoes malolactic fermentation.
 
After this stage, Finca Rodma Avizor rests for 15 months in French oak barrels and is then bottled, undergoing a further 24 months of aging in the solitude of the winery. Each sip of Finca Rodma Avizor is a tribute to the land, the climate, and the dedication of those who work with respect and sustainability, from the light of the photovoltaic panels to the gravity-driven transfers, caring for the wine at every moment of its life.
