About Torre de Oña Finca San Martín

Torre de Oña Finca San Martín is a red wine from the D.O. CaRioja, produced by the winery Torre de Oña. It is a single-varietal wine made from tempranillo, the most emblematic grape of the region.

The grapes from which Torre de Oña Finca San Martín is crafted are of the tempranillo variety, a hallmark of this region, planted in the vineyards surrounding the winery's facilities in Págano-Laguardia, in the province of Álava. The harvest is conducted manually in small crates, ensuring the clusters arrive at the winery in optimal condition. At these facilities, Torre de Oña Finca San Martín undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks with a capacity of 20,000 kilos, where it also completes malolactic fermentation.

The final ageing process of Torre de Oña Finca San Martín lasts 16 months and takes place in new American oak barrels -60%- and twice-used French oak barrels -40%-. During this phase, three rackings are carried out.

Torre de Oña Finca San Martín was established in 1985 by Leandro Vázquez, a businessman with a profound passion for the wine industry. Since 1995, the winery has been part of the Grupo La Rioja Alta, one of the largest wine producers in Spain.

Finca San Martín 2021 boasts a vibrant cherry-red hue with ruby highlights. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of blackberries, raspberries, and red cranberries, harmoniously complemented by subtle notes of clove, vanilla, roasted coffee, caramel, and sweet liquorice. On the palate, it offers perfect balance and a smooth passage, courtesy of its fine and gentle tannins. The aftertaste unveils an outstanding fruity expression, making it a refined, expressive, and well-balanced wine.

Finca San Martín 2019 is a deep cherry-red wine, clean and bright. Its nose is intricate, offering aromas of currants, wild strawberries, undergrowth, pastry, chocolate, ground coffee, and a hint of white pepper. On the palate, it stands out for its smooth texture, balance, and elegant freshness, with flavours reminiscent of ripe red fruits and spices. Finca San Martín 2017 is a supple red wine, brimming with vivid fruit aromas, sweet spiced undertones, and balsamic hints reminiscent of confectionery. On the palate, it is velvety, invigorating, and delectable, displaying refined tannins and a pronounced acidity.

2013 Harmoniously balanced and well-structured. Exhibiting refined tannins and an excellent finish.

Cherry red with garnet hues.

Aromas of ripe fruit, predominantly strawberries and redcurrants. It is of high intensity, displaying hints of its ageing in oak barrels.
