About Finca Sandoval Aurora

A mother is the embodiment of everything. It is no wonder then that many of our vintners choose to pay tribute to this paramount figure by naming their wines after their maternal inspiration. In the case of Finca Sandoval Aurora, it is an homage to the mother of Ángel García-Cordero, who has been at the helm of Finca Sandoval since 2017. Alongside honoring his mother, he has assembled an exceptional team led by one of the most distinguished contemporary Spanish oenologists, Javi Revert. Committed to expressing the distinct character of Manchuela—a denomination nestled between the provinces of Cuenca and Albacete—they unveil a portfolio of Mediterranean wines with a modern and unique perspective.

Thanks to their commitment to indigenous grape varieties, biodiversity, and age-old winemaking practices, they introduce Finca Sandoval Aurora. This white wine is crafted from the albillo grape, sourced from long-forgotten vines planted on high-altitude limestone soils, and nurtured through organic farming to yield grapes with a Mediterranean profile. Following a manual harvest, the grapes are vinified with minimal intervention and native yeasts. The wine is then aged for 10 months in a mix of French oak barrels and clay amphorae.

The result is Finca Sandoval Aurora, a white wine born from neglected vines, whose fruit not only pays tribute to motherhood but also celebrates the unique richness of the land from which it has emerged.

 

2022

Finca Sandoval Aurora 2022 emerges as an exquisite and nuanced white wine. Its bouquet conjures the zesty essence of newly harvested almonds, interlaced with the sweetness of pear and apple, draped in a mantle of wildflowers and a hint of sunflower oil. Upon tasting, it reveals a robust entry, unfurling a velvety texture and harmonious acidity. Its flavor lingers on the palate, endowed with a refined bitterness that adds depth. A distinctive wine, it exhibits a pronounced character.
