About Fonterenza Rosso di Montalcino Alberello

Fonterenza Rosso di Montalcino Alberello is a monovarietal red wine made from Sangiovese and produced by Fonterenza. It is a biodynamic wine that belongs to the IGT Toscana.

Fonterenza is a young winery run by two twin sisters from Milan, Margherita and Francesca Padovani. They cultivate their 4 hectares of vineyard biodynamically and produce traditional style ageing wines and fresher and fruity natural wines.

The vineyards for Fonterenza Rosso di Montalcino Alberello are planted in soils with marls and with the presence of quartz, exposed to the east and northeast and cultivated biodynamically.

Fonterenza Rosso di Montalcino Alberello is harvested manually, and once in the winery it is destemmed and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. It macerates with the skins for 15 to 20 days, and after fermenting it is aged for about 24 months, 11 in Slavic Oak foudres and 13 in stainless steel tanks. The final wine is bottled without being filtered or clarified, and therefore some small amount of sediment may appear in the bottle.

Fonterenza Rosso di Montalcino Alberello was produced for the first time in 2015, vinifying separately a small plot that was set aside for producing Rosso di Montacino.

2015 Fonterenza Rosso di Montalcino Alberello 2015 is a wine with aromas of red fruit and sweet black spices. On the nose there are also touches of noble wood, together with balsamic notes and those of undergrowth. On the palate it has a great body, and is balanced, full and fresh.
