Maison Franck Bonville is renowned for its refined and elegant chardonnay champagnes, distinguished by their unmistakable brioche notes. This century-old house has steadily gained prestige through the passion and vision of four generations, each leaving their mark on the history of this iconic winery.
It all began in 1900, when Alfred Bonville, amidst the recovery from the phylloxera crisis, invested in strategic plots in Champagne, laying the foundation for a family legacy that endures to this day. After the Second World War, his son Franck Bonville expanded the vineyards and launched the first cuvées under his own name, solidifying the maison's identity and reputation.
In 1970, the third generation, led by Gilles Bonville and his wife, modernised the winery, replacing old barrels with steel tanks and later with stainless steel, while preserving the artisanal essence that distinguishes Franck Bonville. Finally, in 1996, Olivier Bonville joined the house, bringing a contemporary yet tradition-true perspective, tending the vineyards with environmental respect and refining the style that defines the house.
Today, the house spans Cramant, Avize, Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Oger, with 20 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards, and its hallmark remains the typicity and precision of its champagnes.
A brilliant example of this legacy is Franck Bonville Les Belles Voyes Oger, originating from a small Grand Cru plot planted between 1920 and 1930. Crafted entirely from chardonnay, separately pressed and fermented in oak barrels to honour the grape's expression, and with a dosage of merely 2.5 g/L, this champagne embodies the philosophy of Franck Bonville. It is a champagne of terroir, refined, intense, and true to four generations of winemakers.
