About Frontonio Telescópico

Frontonio Telescópico Garnacha is a red wine crafted by Bodegas Frontonio in Épila, Aragón.

Bodegas Frontonio was established in 2008 by two friends from Aragón, Fernando Mora, a Master of Wine, and Mario López, an oenologist at Bodegas Borsao.

The mission of Bodegas Frontonio is to elevate the Valdejalón region and its vineyards, predominantly planted with old-vine Garnacha and benefiting from a Mediterranean continental climate. They directly manage approximately 50 hectares, certified organic since 2017. Most vineyards are located around Épila, featuring diverse ages, exposures, altitudes, and soil types. The climate is Mediterranean continental, with low rainfall (200-500 mm/year), 300 hours of sunshine annually, and numerous windy days, known locally as El Cierzo.

Currently, Bodegas Frontonio produces garage wines in the backroom of a small bulk wine winery, vinifying with minimal intervention, plot by plot. The result is exceptional wines, authentic and full of character.

Frontonio Telescópico is a wine crafted from Garnacha and Mazuelo vines aged between 35 and 60 years, located in the villages of Épila, Morata, and Jarque.

Harvesting is done manually with grape selection in the vineyard. In the winery, fermentation occurs in open concrete vats with indigenous yeasts. Frontonio Telescópico undergoes ageing in large wooden vats for a year, resulting in a spectacle not to be missed.

2022

Frontonio Telescópico 2022 presents itself with a vivid red hue that entices one to taste it. On the nose, it is distinguished by aromas of red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, accompanied by subtle hints of vanilla and spices, a result of its time in barrel. On the palate, it is juicy and fresh, with a balanced acidity that enhances its fruity character. Its finish is pleasant and lingering, leaving a delightful sensation that invites further enjoyment. A wine that marries youthfulness with complexity.

2021
Frontonio Telescópico 2021 is a red wine that captivates with its youthful spirit and fruit-driven character. On the nose, it unfolds intense cherry notes accompanied by delicate floral aromas reminiscent of rose petals with a subtle hint of wild oregano. On the palate, its juicy and vibrant profile is confirmed, offering a fleshy and velvety texture with a finish that lingers pleasingly. This wine, fluid and refined, is a pure expression of the fruit and the terroir from which it hails.
 
2020 Frontonio Telescópico 2020 is a red wine that presents aromas of Picota cherries on the nose, accompanied by floral notes (of rose petals) and wild oregano. The palate is fleshy, direct and fresh, with the finesse of Grenache and the magic of Carignan. A bright red wine with energetic tannins and a refined, flavorful texture.

Frontonio Telescópico Garnacha 2018 is a seductive and vibrant red wine. The bouquet reveals scents of candied fruit, red berries, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is spicy and fruity, with a delicate hint of bitterness.
2017 Frontonio Telescópico Garnacha 2017 is a deep wine, very rich in shades. On the nose, the red fruit stands out with notes of Mediterranean grass. In the mouth, the minerality is the main feature, with a long and persistent finish.
