About El Jardín de las Iguales

El Jardín de las Iguales is a Garnacha variety red wine made by Frontonio wineries in the Zaragoza area (Aragón).

Bodega Frontonio was set up by Fernando Mora MW and Mario López . Two entrepreneurs who are committed to discovering and reviving the qualities of unique hundred-year-old vines. This project started out in a garage belonging to one of their fathers in Épila, a village in Valdejalón, and resulted in a small production with a quality comparable to a Grand cru.

El Jardín de las Iguales comes from a 1.8-hectare vineyard, located in the Aragón valley of Barrandijos (Alpartir). These are hundred-year-old strains that are planted on slate and quartzite soil and offer very small yields. They use traditional and fully manual agriculture to respect the natural balance of the strain as much as possible and to anticipate the harvest.

In the winery, a cave that is over 240 years old that they bought and restored respecting its original features as much as possible, they partially de-stem the grape to enhance freshness. El Jardín de las Iguales is then fermented at a controlled temperature between 22 and 24ºC. Finally, it is left to age for 12 months in French oak foudres.

El Jardín de las Iguales comes from an effort to revive an exceptional hundred-year-old vineyard to produce a Garnacha with less rusticity and maximum finesse. This wine is a dream come true that is becoming one to watch over the next few years.

2022

El Jardín de las Iguales Tinto 2022 is a gem of expression and elegance. On the nose, it is a delight with aromas of wild strawberries interwoven with hints of lavender, thyme, and the freshness of rockrose. On the palate, it begins with a charming softness and a vivacious acidity. The tannins are firm, yet they unfold with a seductive smoothness, offering a velvety texture that culminates in an intense and delicate finish. This wine is recommended for its perfect harmony between the delicate aromatic notes and its firm structure, offering an experience that blends freshness and depth.
2020

Jardín de las Iguales Tinto 2020 is a wine with aromas of blood oranges on the nose accompanied by notes of curry, bay leaves and a delicate floral perfume. The palate is vibrant with a balanced mouthfeel: it is fruity and juicy, austere and vertical. An ethereal and elegant wine, with unexpected length, reflecting one of its most complete vintages.
2019

El Jardín de las Iguales Tinto 2019 is a supple wine redolent with scents of red fruit, hints of violet, and smoky, herbaceous undertones. On the palate, it is vibrant, sophisticated, and persistent. This wine boasts a pronounced acidity, robust tannins, and a refined, polished finish.
2018

El Jardín de las Iguales Tinto 2018 exudes distinctive character. The bouquet is highly aromatic and redolent with floral nuances against a backdrop of minerality, suffused with scents reminiscent of strawberry, lavender, bay leaf, and oregano. It is remarkably expressive. On the palate, it presents a crisp profile, adorned with refined tannins. The texture is silky and exquisitely graceful. The wine is delectably flavorsome, accented with saline hints. It culminates in a prolonged and tenacious finish. 
2016 El Jardín de las Iguales 2016 is a juicy red wine with an expressive meaty red colour, aromas of red strawberries, notes of violets and thyme as well as smoky touches. On the palate it has a smooth texture with a balanced acidity and a fine and persistent finish.
