About Gaja Barbaresco Sorì Tildin

Gaja Barbaresco Sorì Tildin is a single-variety Nebbiolo wine produced by the Gaja winery, under the DOCG Barbaresco, in Piedmont, Italy.

The grapes used to make the Gaja Barbaresco Sorì Tildin wine come from the Sorì Tildin plot which lies on a hill at 270 metres above sea level, with lean and compact soils. The vineyards are harvested by hand and only the best bunches are selected to guarantee the highest quality in the wines. The grapes ferment for three weeks and the wine obtained goes through a double refinement: first it is aged for twelve months in barrels and then it is transferred to large barrels where it rests for another twelve months to then be bottled and sold.

Gaja Barbaresco Sorì Tildin is a deep red that expresses the splendid qualities of the Nebbiolo variety, elegantly accompanied by a subtle influence of wood.

Angelo Gaja is a known figure in the winemaking world. He is part of the fourth generation to run the legendary Gaja winery that has laid the foundations for modern viticulture in Piedmont, always prioritising quality over quantity. They were the pioneers in using stainless steel tanks for vinification and limiting strain yield to obtain fewer, but more concentrated and higher quality clusters. They stopped buying grapes from third parties, late harvests, long extractions and endless aging to try to achieve a maturity that never came.

The result needs to explanation. These wines perfectly express the broadest qualities of the Nebbiolo variety and are admired and sought-after by many, which makes the Gaja winery one of the most appreciated and desirable for collectors around the world.
