About Godelia Godello

Godelia Godello is a white wine from the D.O. Bierzo made by Bodegas Godelia. The bodega lies in the district of Pieros, a privileged setting which bears witness to the passage of countless pilgrims making their way to Santiago de Compostela. Godelia has reinvented itself to stand alongside the other bodegas in the region as a fine representative of the special character and spirit of El Bierzo.

This wine is made with the varieties Godello (80%) and Doña Blanca (20%), from vineyards owned or rented by the winery with Godella vines between 12 and 41 years old and old Doña Blanca vines between 61 and 81 years of age, both located at around 500 or 700 metres above sea level.

The grapes are strictly and painstakingly selected in the vineyard. The harvest is carried out manually, using 15 kg boxes. The grapes are destemmed and softly pressed in an inert atmosphere. The grape must then goes through a static debourage for 24 hours. The varieties ferment separately in 150 hl stainless steel deposits at a temperature of 15ºC.

This wine ages in new fine grain French oak barrels of 500 l capacity for 5 months on its fine lees, applying the batonage technique (lees stirring).

2012 Very enjoyable. Salty, mineral notes stand out which, together with the acidity, result in a fresh and persistent finish.

This year is characterised by intense and complex aromas. The wine exudes floral and citrus notes, lime in particular, on a mineral background.
