Doniene Gorrondona Beltza is a red wine produced by the winery Doniene Gorrondona Txacolina, in Bakio, D.O.Bizkaiko Txakolina.

Doniene Gorrondona is a winery located in the region of Bakio (The Basque Country), a valley between the mountains Sollube and Jata, both with less than 500 metres of altitude.

This farm and winery has 12 hectares of vineyards, including a unique 2-hectare plot with pre-phylloxera Hondarribi Beltza. All vineyards are located on sloping terrains, oriented towards the South. Soils are sandy in the higher areas and clayey in the lower areas of the valley.

Vines are cultivated according to the organic parameters and they are planted in a pergola shape to allow air flow in this humid climate.

The philosophy of this winery is to make unique wines with personality that express the character of the local varieties and of this special terroir.

Doniene Gorrondona Beltza is a wine made from Hondarrabi beltza, from vines that are over 80 years of age, the oldest ones in Bakio. Apart from this vineyard, they also have 5 very old plots from small vine growers. Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard and in the winery. Once the grapes are destemmed, they go through fermentation at a controlled temperature with indigenous yeasts. After soft pressing, they are left to stand in stainless steel deposits on their fine lees until the end of January. Here, they undergo malolactic fermentation at the end of December.

Doniene Gorrondona Beltza is an expressive, fresh and elegant wine. On the nose, it is quite varietal, with flowery and mineral notes. A red wine with a marked Atlantic character.

Succulent and exceptionally vibrant. Little more need be said to introduce Doniene Gorrondona Beltza 2021. This red wine unfurls in the glass with a youthful character. On the nose, it captivates with scents of fresh red fruits, such as strawberries and cherries, interwoven with very delicate spices. On the palate, it displays a remarkable concentration, delivering a smooth texture and a lingering finish that echoes its youthfulness.
