About Grande Vadio

Grande Vadio is a red wine made with the Baga variety by the Portuguese winery Vadio in DOC Bairrada, in the Beirasarea.
 
Under the name Vadio (lazy in Portuguese), whose meaning invites us to live life without worries and enjoy a good glass of wine, this is the most personal project from Luis Patrao. An oenologist who, after gaining experience in different parts of the world, settled in his native Bairrada to get the maximum expression of the terroir.
 
Grande Vadio comes from a 1.3 hectare plot on a hillside with sandy-loam soils. The vines are about 30 years old and cultivated without using chemical products that could damage the natural environment, and sustainable agriculture with organic certification is applied. 
 
Once harvested by hand, the Grande Vadio grapes are crushed in small tanks and begin spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and a manual pump. The wine then ages for 24 months in used French oak barrels with a capacity of 228 liters. Finally, with a light filtration, the wine is bottled and kept in the cellar for 12 months. 
 
Grande Vadio is a red wine which elegantly displays a beautiful intensity of pure, ripe fruit. Fruit concentration in harmony.
 
2015 Grande Vadio 2015 is a pleasant red wine with delicious aromas of red fruits, wild flowers and spiced notes. On the palate, it’s pleasant, balanced, complete. It shows silky tannins, ripe fruit flavors and good acidity. It has a lingering, persistent finish.
