Locos por el Vino Gruñón 2020 is a red wine that captivates from the very first sip: intense with aromas of blackberries and ripe plums, complemented by a hint of liquorice and spices that make it irresistible. About Locos por el Vino Gruñón

In numerology, the number three is a divine number that symbolises perfection and balance. Three Kings travelled from the East to visit the Baby Jesus. There are three key events that mark important life stages (weddings, baptisms and communions). Alexandre Dumas’ musketeers were a trio... And there are three bottles produced at Locos por el Vino.

Locos por el Vino Gruñón is one of those three, and part of a project that aims to strip wine of all the nonsense and make it more attractive to a younger audience. In the Altos del Moncayo, in the D.O. Campo de Borja (northwest of Aragón), Miguel Sanmartín, Sergio Chueca and Chris Ringland (another trio, look at that!) began working together to produce this blend of Garnacha and Syrah from young vineyards (located in the highest areas). While the Syrah is grown on the terraces of the Huecha Valley (with stony soils and boulders), the Garnacha is grown on the slopes of the Moncayo, on clay and slate soils.

Both varieties are fully expressed in each bottle of Locos por el Vino Gruñón, where they are vinified separately to enhance aromas and flavours. Each of these varieties goes its own way in the winery. The Garnacha undergoes a two-day cold maceration and then ferments in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures (between 25°C and 30°C). The Syrah also ferments at low temperatures (between 20°C- 22°C); however, the latter process will take longer. Finally, Locos por el vino Gruñón is bottled without spending any time in wood (this is one of the hallmarks of these winemakers).

In the world of wine, the number three also has its own meaning. Bringing three well-made, quality wines to the market is no easy task. Locos por el Vino Gruñón 2019 presents itself with an intense purple hue and a very deep layer. On the nose, it is distinguished by its explosion of ripe black fruits, such as blackberries and prunes, complemented by hints of black liquorice and spices that invite further exploration. On the palate, it exhibits a balanced power, with sweet, creamy, and rounded tannins that unfold with elegance. Its finish is long and silky, offering a fluid profile that makes it very pleasant.                       
                   
2018 Locos por el Vino Gruñón 2018 is a red wine with pleasant aromatic intensity where ripe black fruits (blackberries, prunes) stand out accompanied by spicy and sweet nuances (black liquorice). Powerful on the palate, but with the pleasantness of a ripe and sweet tannin. A silky and round red wine, with a long and tasty finish that is very pleasant to drink.

Locos por el Vino Gruñón 2017 is a smooth, deep purple coloured, very high layer red wine. The nose is intense and complex, with aromas of ripe black fruit, blackberries, prunes and black liquorice. The palate is powerful, with sweet and creamy tannins, round, with a long and silky finish.
