At times, the world of wine seems too formal and elitist, which can be intimidating for people who want to learn more about it. However, it is important to remember that wine is ultimately an enjoyable drink that should be available to everyone, regardless of their level of knowledge or experience. Fortunately, many wine lovers and wine professionals are actively working to make wine more accessible and inviting. And it is with this aim that the adventure of Locos por el Vino began, a project set up by three wine enthusiasts, Miguel Sanmartín, Sergio Chueca and Chris Ringland, who after meeting at the Altos de Moncayo winery decided to make wines that would be more accessible and attractive to a new, young audience who are keen to enjoy them.
This is how Zismero was born; the name means “provocative” in Aragonese, and it is already a statement of intent. With the aim of seeking to highlight the purity of Grenache, Locos por el Vino finds new and young vineyards lying at the highest altitudes in the D.O. Campo de Borja, in Zaragoza (Spain). In the winery, fermentation takes place in open stainless steel tanks at a constant temperature of 24ºC and 28ºC and, finally, the wine spends 2 months in French oak barrels.
Locos por el Vino Zismero presents the most fun, defiant and accessible side of wine. A fresh, pure and meaty Grenache that easily brings us closer to the world of wine and, more specifically, to the world of high altitude Grenache.
