Guímaro Finca Meixeman 2023 is a Galician red wine with profound and elegant character, refined and genuine. On the nose, it marries the freshness of red fruits with the fragrance of violets and a whisper of wild herbs that seems to emanate from a forest after the rain. On the palate, it is balanced and flavourful, with fine tannins that envelop the mouth and a slightly balsamic finish that extends its charm. About Guímaro Finca Meixeman

Guímaro Finca Meixeman is a red wine from the D.O Ribeira Sacra produced by the Guímaro winery. This wine is a blend of Mencía (80%) with various native varieties from the region (Caíño, Sousón, Brancellao, Merenzao, Negreda, Garnacha and Mouratón).

The grapes used for this wine come from an estate than occupies little more than one hectare, called Meixeman, the same as the wine. It is home to vines that are over 70 years old that grow at altitudes of 40-450 metres, on slate soils with a southeast facing orientation.

The harvest is carried out using small boxes, which ensures that the harvest and grapes are not damaged during transit to the winery’s facilities. The vinification begins with a phase of fermentation in closed conical tanks in which 60% of the grapes are worked whole and 40% with the stemse. The process lasts between one and two months. The must obtained from which will be born Guímaro Finca Meixeman is then bled and gently and gently pressed.

Guímaro Finca Meixeman then ages for one year in 500kg capacity French oak barrels before finally undergoing malolactic fermentation. Before being bottled, without being clarified or filtered, this wine is decanted into tanks, where it rests for 2 months more. The wine then is refined in the bottle for 3 months.

Guímaro is a small Galician winery. The Mencía grape, as well as other native varieties, help form part of the repertoire of the project.
