About Heinrich Pinot Noir

Heinrich Pinot Noir is an organic, barrel-aged red wine made with the Pinot Noir variety by Heinrich in Burgenland (Austria).

 

Although the Heinrich family have been cultivating vineyards next to Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland, Austria, since 1730, it was not until 1985 when they became leading winemakers. Gernot Heinrich, who now runs the winery, soon became known for making mainly high-quality reds in a place where white wine rules.

 

Heinrich Pinot Noir comes from the foot of the Leitha mountains, where the soils are rich in limestone and loamy-sandy-clay sediments. They are ecologically cultivated without the use of pesticides, herbicides or any other chemical products that could harm the natural balance of the terroir. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.

 

In the winery, the Heinrich Pinot Noir grapes are spontaneously fermented with native yeasts and macerated with their skins for two weeks. They are then gently pressed and the resulting wine ages for 6 months in wooden vats and 500-litre oak barrels.

 

Heinrich Pinot Noir is a red wine with natural beauty. Concentrated but not heavy, lively but not overpowering. An easy to drink wine that will leave you wanting more.
