About Humus Flui branco

Humus Flui branco is a white natural, ecological and vegan wine barrel made by Encosta da Quinta with the arinto, fernão pires and vital local varieties in the Vinho regional de Lisboa denomination, in Lisbon (Portugal).
 
Encosta da Quinta is located one hour north of Lisbon. This is Rodrigo Filipe's family winery. A self-taught viticulturist who left his profession as a civil engineer to dedicate himself to the vineyards acquired by his grandfather in 1960. As a result he started Humus, a project where he makes natural wines with local varieties and 100% Atlantic. 
 
Humus Flui branco came into existence in a vineyard near the sea planted with different local varieties in 1974. It’s the vineyard of a friend of Filipe, who suggested he made a wine with the grapes which come from there. They use ecological agriculture and harvest is carried out manually in 15 kg boxes. 
 
In the winery, the Humus Flui grapes are pressed directly and the must obtained is transferred to old oak barrels. Once they arrive, they begin spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. The wine is aged for 12 months in these same barrels. Finally, it’s bottled without being filtered, clarified or adding sulphites. 
 
The natural energy typical of Humus wines is clearly recognizable in Humus Flui branco. A fresh, light white wine with outstanding acidity.
2018 Humus Flui Branco 2018 is a white wine with aromas of ripe white fruits and herbaceous notes. On the palate it is wonderfully spicy with a hint of chamomile and a very pleasant texture.
