About Idoia Blanc

Idoia Blanc is a white wine from Catalunya prepared by Ca N'Estruc. This winery, located in the foothills of the mountains of Montserrat, in the municipality of Esparraguera, has been producing wine for no less than 5 centuries, from 1548.

Idoia Blanc is a blend of Xarel.lo (70%), Grenache (12%), Macabeo (12%) and Chardonnay (6%). The vineyards are grown on a farm with a specific microclimate because of the cold north winds, with cool summers and temperate winters. The average annual temperature is 14.1ºC.

To prepare Idoia Blanc, one racking takes place in stainless steel barrels for a clean wort before fermentation.

After racking, the wine is macerated in French oak barrels with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature of 15 ° C for 18 days.

Finally, the wine undergoes a 6-month aging in 300 litre Allier French oak barrels from Dargaud & Vicard Jaegle.

2017 Idoia Blanc 2017 is a mature white wine with structure and balance. A mature vintage that enhances all its aromatic character, with white stone fruit, and with floral notes and a citrus point. On the palate it is unctuous, with volume and a lingering finish.
2016 Idoia Blanc 2016 is a mature, intense and balanced white wine. This vintage stands out for its cleanliness on the nose, aromas of very ripe white fruit with elegant toasted notes. Silky and ample in the mouth.
2013 Balanced and intense. Long and fresh with round oak tannins that accompany to the end. Memories of flowers, anise and ripe fruits.

Bright yellow with golden reflections.

Aromas of caramel, lemon, anise, bay leaves and hay. Memories of ripe banana.
2012 Balanced and intense on the palate. Long and fresh, with round tannins from the barrel which are present until the finish. Nuances of flowers, aniseed and ripe fruit.

A golden yellow colour with bright gold reflections.

Subtle aromas from its ageing with aromas of lemon sweets, aniseed, bay leaves and hay. A nuance of ripe banana.
