About Il Moralizzatore Vizeta

From time immemorial, their aromas and sugars have attracted wasps. Hence its name. Hence the Italian word vespe gives its name to this grape. Vespaiola. However, beyond that, this native variety from northern Italy (which is traditionally dried) goes beyond the well-known sweet wines. Needless to say, there is plenty of sugar here to produce an excellent sparkling wine like Il Moralizzatore Vizeta. 
 
The brave souls who have ventured into this are Enrico Frisone and Andrea Dalla Grana, who amaze with a white wine refermented in the bottle and aged for more than a year on its lees. And not only does this method stand out, but also the background of these two friends who initially had nothing to do with wine. One was a pharmacist, and the other a veterinarian. They were united by their passion for wine, and so, in 2010, they decided to invest all their knowledge into Il Moralizzatore, a winery where the wine they dreamed of became a reality. To reach this point, they went through numerous tastings, visits, and conversations, where one of their mentors was Angiolino Maule, a significant figure in Italian natural wine who guided them through this process. Sometimes, he even saved their lives, like that time when he lent them a pruning tool that made the hard work in the field much more bearable. Such was the breath of hope he instilled in them that they renamed the tool as The moralizer; and hence also the name of the company. It's true that biodynamic work in the vineyard is rewarding; what is not mentioned is the toughness that manual labor, pest control, and disease management entail on certain occasions. For this, at Il Moralizzatore, they rely on perennial pastures, green manures, and copper and sulfur preparations. 
 
When the time comes, the five hectares where Il Moralizzatore Vizeta grows are harvested. From here, they go directly to the production process, which always begins with the manual destemming of the grapes. Pressing and fermentation in stainless steel tanks will be the next steps, until the time comes to bottle and let it rest. Once again, the yeasts that will be at rest will activate to start the second fermentation in the bottle, where that sparkling touch will be achieved. It will remain like this for more than a year, until the moment comes to taste it.
