Tasting notes Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Red wine Aged in wood Organic. 18 months in French oak barrels.
Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is a juicy, deep red with character. After all these years the nose appears with very concentrated aromas, where black cherry and blackberry stand out. In the background, lavender, thyme and bay start to appear. The palate is balanced, with polished tannins and fine grains. Long, aromatic and tasty finish.

About Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon
One of the territories marked by Cabernet Sauvignon is Napa Valley, in California. Here, on the West Coast of the United States, this variety, a cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, grows beautifully under the protection of high temperatures and low rainfall.
Part of the responsibility for this lies with Captain Niebaum, an explorer and forerunner of the wine industry in this area, who introduced this variety to the area and turned it into wine in the late 19th century at his winery, Inglenook. This legacy was continued by his great-nephew, John Daniel Jr, who succeeded in refining and elevating this variety to perfection. Today, almost two centuries later, this legacy continues in the Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon red wine. Although with some modifications, as different varieties are now blended, Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon is made inspired by the Cask Wines that John Daniel began making in 1949. In fact, the vintages between 1995 and 2008 were single-variety Cabernet Sauvignon, keeping the term Cask on the label and aged in American oak barrels. However, things changed in 2009, when Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon changed its name, its aging (switching to American oak) and its varieties (introducing other grapes like Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec).
All these varieties are grown on the 95 hectares belonging to Inglenook, now run by the Coppola family. This filmmaker, together with his wife and children, bought part of this property (which had been divided and sold in 1964 to United Vintners) in 1975. For this family of artists, who immediately fell in love with the area’s landscapes, the reunification of the estate became a personal challenge that they have finally managed to achieve. As is to be expected, given the size of this winery, it is natural to find the vineyards growing on a wide variety of soils, with different orientations and unique features that are later revealed in the winery during vinification.
Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon’s last stop is the Infinity Caves, a huge aging cellar (1,486 square metres), built right into the hillside, where the blends and assemblages finish rounding out and developing.
