About Izadi el Regalo Viñedo Singular

In 1936, just as the Civil War began, the vines of viñedo El Regalo were planted. Due to the obvious wartime circumstances, the vines could not be officially registered until 1940, when the conflict ended. Since then, El Regalo has been one of the most exceptional plots cultivated in Izadi. Currently, it is regarded as a Viñedo Singular, the highest category within the quality system of the DOCa Rioja; and it is here that Izadi El Regalo Viñedo Singular is born. 
 
The tempranillo is the sole variety used to produce this red wine, which undergoes 14 months of ageing in new French barrels. This maturation enhances the grape's character, which thrives on shallow, calcareous, and very poor soils that are cultivated sustainably (including organic certification). At the time, this plot was a gift from a husband to his future wife, hence the name El Regalo. Today, the chapel of Nuestra Señora del Regalo serves as a reminder of this story.
 
Given the high value of this gift, and as it could not be otherwise, everything at Izadi El Regalo Viñedo Singular is done manually: the harvest (in small 15 kg boxes to preserve the condition of the grapes), the selection of the bunches, the transport of the grapes to the winery… Once there, Izadi El Regalo Viñedo Singular undergoes a very gentle destemming and crushing process to obtain the must, which will be placed in wooden vats where Izadi El Regalo Viñedo Singular will ferment. Here, the wine will remain for a period before being transferred again to new French oak barrels, where, in addition to resting for several months, it will also undergo malolactic fermentation.

2020 Izadi El Regalo Viñedo Singular 2020 is a red wine of great complexity. Ripe black fruit notes appear on the nose accompanied by roasted and smoky aromas. The palate presents ripe fruit flavours accompanied by velvety tannins. An elegant, pleasant, long and persistent red wine.
2017

Izadi El Regalo 2017 is a mature red wine exuding intricate aromas of stewed black fruit, interwoven with roasted nuances and balsamic hints. On the palate, it is expansive, silky, and exceedingly graceful. A wine characterized by its noble tannins, a well-structured body, and a prolonged, delectable finish.
2009 Lightweight and slowly evolving. Step is velvety and fruity, red fruit sensations with hints of oak. Very good acidity and sweet tannins.

Intensely aromatic. Predominance of ripe fruit with toast and spicy notes. Balsamic background.
2007 After an elegant and bulky attack, this wine shows a tasty and velvety mid palate. A structured wine with a great acidity and a firm and ripe tannic sensation. A red wine with a long and persistent finish and nice fruity and toasted aromas felt at retro-olfaction.

Ruby red colour with maroon edges. Clean and very bright. It has thin and beautiful slightly coloured tears.

A red wine with a high aromatic intensity and a great complexity. It shows clean and crispy seductive nasal aromas, dominated by the notes of red fruit, which are well integrated with the fine smoked, spicy and wooden aromas. A gift!
2005 After an elegant and bulky attack, this Spanish wine shows a tasty and velvety mid palate. A structured wine with a long and very persistent finish.

Nice dark and intense ruby red colour with maroon edges. Clean and bright, with beautiful and slightly coloured tears.
