About Izadi Selección Blanco

Izadi Selección Blanco is a young white wine crafted by Bodegas Izadi in the Rioja Alavesa region (DOCa Rioja) from a blend of indigenous white grape varieties: viura, maturana, tempranillo blanco, malvasía, garnacha blanca, and turruntés.

Artevino Family Wineries, the proprietor of four distinct wineries, embarked on its winemaking journey in 1987 in the town of Villabuena de Álava (Rioja Alavesa) with the establishment of Bodegas Izadi. The project, symbolised by a triangle logo, represents the area formed by the three villages where the 178 hectares of vineyards are located, from which their wines are produced. The winery itself is a newly constructed building architecturally notable for its utilisation of a 50-metre gradient across five different levels to work by gravity. As a result, wines are produced that distinctly reflect the unique character of the region.

Izadi Selección Blanco originates from vineyards averaging 45 years in age, planted on impoverished clay-limestone soils at altitudes of approximately 450-550 metres above sea level. These are old vines cultivated under principles of integrated viticulture, yielding small but high-quality berries through limited production. Once the grapes reach optimal ripeness, they are hand-harvested.

In the winery, the grapes for Izadi Selección Blanco are gently destemmed and pressed. Subsequently, the resulting must undergoes alcoholic fermentation, predominantly in stainless steel tanks, with the remainder in new barrels, at a controlled temperature. Finally, it is filtered and clarified before bottling.

Izadi Selección Blanco 2023 boasts an appealing lemon-yellow hue with greenish glints. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of apple, pear, lemon, pineapple, and a hint of floral notes, underpinned by subtle toasted and spicy undertones. On the palate, it is refreshing and flavorful, with a notable texture. Citrus and white fruit notes, such as apple, stand out, with a fresh finish reminiscent of white flowers and delicate toasted nuances.                       
2022 Izadi Selección Blanco 2022 is a wine that offers a delicious aromatic complexity on the nose with white fruits, citrus and tropical fruits accompanied by toasted and spicy nuances. The palate is very refreshing. Citrus flavours stand out, harmoniously accompanying the different fruity notes. A silky white wine, with a pleasant volume and exquisite elegance.
2021 Izadi Selección Blanco 2021 is an aromatic white wine, lemon yellow in colour with greenish tones. The nose is intense, with hints of white fruit, citrus, tropical fruit and floral notes combined with spices. The palate is refreshing and tasty, with silky tannins. Citrus and floral flavours. Light and refreshing finish.
2018 Izadi Blanco is an aromatic white wine with a pale yellow colour with green tones. It has aromas of fresh white fruits and citrus fruits. On the palate it is fresh with a well-balanced acidity and a pleasant sweetness.
2013 On the palate this is a very nice, creamy and well-structured Spanish wine, with a good acidity. Excellent citrus and toasted notes are demostrated during the aftertaste.

Straw yellow colour with greenish and golden reflections and steel-blue edges. Clean and very bright.

In the nose, aromas of fruit such as apricot and apple stand out along with white flower notes combined with toasted and smoky nuances from its ageing in the barrel.
2012 On the palate this is a very nice, creamy and well-structured Spanish wine, with a good acidity. Excellent citrus and toasted notes are felt at retro-olfaction.
