About Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage Le Chevalier De Stérimberg Blanc

The pairing of the year! The most wanted duo! Marsanne and Roussane! This popular winemaking pair, most recently seen in the A.O.C. Crozes-Hermitage, makes its star appearance in Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage Le Chevalier De Stérimberg.

Since the end of the 1990s the A.O.C. Crozes-Hermitage has been enjoying a revolution where the white wines are taking over and beginning to occupy places reserved for great wines. They represent barely 10% of production, but they leave everyone wanting to try them. Part of all this evolution is happening with Caroline Frey, the current winemaker at Domaine Paul Jaboulet Ainé, who is strongly committed to this type of vinification, with long aging in barrels. On this occasion, Caroline Frey has changed material and chosen cement. Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage Le Chevalier De Stérimberg spends 10 to 12 months in cement, in contact with its lees, resulting in much finer and more elegant wines.

Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage Le Chevalier De Stérimberg owes its name to a monument: the chapel of Saint-Christophe. According to legend, this place of prayer, which is also believed to have previously been a Roman temple dedicated to Heracles, was the place where the knight Gaspard de Sterimberg retired on his return from the Crusades. Here he planted vines and vineyards to produce wines and make them available to pilgrims, starting the winemaking tradition that is so typical of the A.O.C. Crozes-Hermitage. Since 1919 this building has been owned by Domaine Paul Jaboulet Ainé, and is located within their 113 hectares of vineyards (all of which are organically cultivated).

Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage Le Chevalier De Stérimberg Blanc is harvested by hand, in 20 kg boxes, taking great care when transporting the bunches. Caroline Frey and her team are on hand from start to finish to oversee the production process. Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage Le Chevalier De Stérimberg Blanc is always synonymous with quality.
