About Jean Leon Vinya La Scala

Jean Leon Vinya La Scala is a red wine from the D.O. Penedès made by Jean Leon. Behind this great wine we find a humble and exciting story that tells us about the life of Jean Leon, a Spaniard to ended up a big hit in Hollywood thanks to his restaurant.

This Gran Reserva is named after the restaurant that Jean Leon founded in Beverly Hills. La Scala was the local meeting point for celebrities during the Golden Age of Hollywood, such as Marilyn Monroe, immortalized on the label of this 2003 vintage according to the artist Josep Maria Subirachs' artistic vision.
Turning to the wine, it is made with grapes of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety. This wine is suitable for ageing. After fermenting in stainless steel vats the wine ages in new French oak barrels for 24 months followed by at least three years of ageing in the bottle.

2016 Jean Leon Vinya La Scala 2016 is a red wine with aromas reminiscent of cherry and plum jam on the nose accompanied by spicy notes and balsamic nuances. On the palate it presents the maximum expression of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety. An intense and complex red wine, meaty, well structured and persistent.

Jean Leon Vinya La Scala 2015 exudes sophistication as a red wine. It boasts a robust bouquet, replete with balsamic nuances, charred bell pepper, dark berries, and spices underscored by a toasted undertone. On the palate, it envelops the senses with its well-defined structure and velvety tannins. The finish is extensive, vibrant, and enduring.
2011 Jean Leon Vinya La Scala 2011 is a mature, structured and elegant red wine. A very good vintage for this refined wine that shows us all the virtues of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety, its potential for ageing and its good evolution in long ageing processes. Aromas of ripe red fruit, with very distinguished toasted, balsamic and mineral notes. In the mouth, it is silky, with a great mid-palate and a long and persistent finish.
2003 Structured and lush, with sweet, tasty tannins and a long, sensual finish.

A dark cherry red colour with maroon tones.

Perfectly integrated aromas of ripe fruit, blueberries, eucaliptus, honey, toast, smoke, plums, raisins and chocolate. Countless nuances shape this complex wine.
