About Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis

Located near Auxerre, in the Serein Valley, Chablis is recognised as one of the oldest vineyards in France. A region appreciated by kings themselves, its wines were present on all the great tables of the 19th century and exude an exceptional prestige, still alive today. One of the most renowned domaines of this Burgundian appellation is undoubtedly Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard. Founded in 1946 in Chaudenay-le-Château, in the heart of a farming family, Jean-Marc decides to cultivate vines and produce a wide range of Chablis wines, as well as other Burgundy reds and whites, preserving both the environment and the character of each terroir. His son Julien joined the project in 1995 and, following this work philosophy, went a step further by initiating a process of introducing biodynamic farming practices. Such is the respect they have for the environment that, today, the winery represents one of the most well-known ecological projects in Burgundy.

Among the productions present in the Chablis AOC, they deliver Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis, a chardonnay from Préhy and Courgis. The vineyards are located in the heart of Chablis, planted on steep, chalky, limestone soils with numerous marine fossil remains. Hence the shell symbol on the bottle label. Organic agriculture is practised with biodynamic treatments and, once the grapes reach their optimum ripeness, they are harvested by hand. In the cellar, the grapes are sorted, destemmed and pressed in a pneumatic press and the must obtained is fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in these same containers.

Once bottled, Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis is offered as a basic, young and classicChablis . The ideal wine, not only to understand this winemaker and his terroir, but also to venture into the heart of Chablis on the right foot.

2020

Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis 2020 is an aromatic white wine brimming with scents of citrus and stone fruits, complemented by mineral undertones. On the palate, it is dry, vivacious, and highly expressive. This wine boasts an inviting attack, a delightful progression, and a well-rounded finish accented by delicate saline hints.
