About Josep Drouhin Chassagne-Montrachet

Josep Drouhin Chassagne-Montrachet is a single-variety Chardonnay white wine made by the Josep Drouhin winery, in Burgundy, France.

Chassagne-Montrachet, in the south of Côte de Beaune, is one of the famous “Côte des Blancs” villages, an area known for its extraordinary Chardonnay white wines.

The grapes used to make the Josep Drouhin Chassagne-Montrachet wine come from plots with complex soils of marl, limestone, yellow and red clay, scree and gravel, lying on a gentle slope with good exposure.

When the clusters reach the winery, they are slowly pressed to protect the properties and characteristics of the fruit. Only the first presses are used for fermentation, which takes place with the native yeasts. There are regular batonnages to provide body and organoleptic properties to the resulting wine which, following fermentation, is racked for a 12 month aging process in oak barrels, 25% of which are new.

La Maison Josep Drouhin was founded in 1880 and has become one of the most well-known and prestigious winemaking houses in Burgundy. It currently has about 73 hectares where the fourth generation of the family works to continue with the aim of producing wines through art and an endless search for quality.
2017 Josep Drouhin Chassagne-Montrachet is a white wine that offers intense aromas of flowers, brioche and candied lemon on the nose and then evolves to reveal toasted and nutty nuances. On the palate it is broad and persistent. An elegant and generous wine with a light mineral touch.
