About Joseph Drouhin Morey-Saint-Denis

Joseph Drouhin Morey-Saint-Denis is a monovarietal Pinot Noir red wine from the AOC Morey-Saint-Denis produced by Joseph Drouhin.

Joseph Drouhin is a winery founded in 1880 and located in Beaune. It owns 78 hectares of vineyards distributed over various subareas in Burgundy: in Côte de Nuits, Chablis, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. It also buys grapes and must from local producers to produce some of his references. For years the winery has been practicing organic farming because it understands that listening and respecting its vineyards and nature is essential for producing quality wines.

The vineyard for Joseph Drouhin Morey-Saint-Denis lies between Gavrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny. The soils of the plots are a mixture of calcareous marls with broken white stones from a lower layer of limestone. The planting density is about 10,000 plants per hectare, they are pruned in Guyot style and produce around 42 hl/ha.

Joseph Drouhin Morey-Saint-Denis macerates and ferments with native yeasts for 2 or 3 weeks at a controlled temperature. Once fermented, the wine is aged in French oak barrels, 20 % of which are new, for a period of 14 to 18 months.

2016 Joseph Drouhin Morey-Saint-Denis 2016 is a fantastic wine that will delight Burgundy connoisseurs. It has intense aromas in which cherry, spicy elements and touches of leather stand out. On the palate it is a full-bodied wine that is chewy with fine and noble tannins that provide structure. Its aftertaste is full and fruity.
