About Kamara Nimbus Ritinitis

“The true winegrower is nature, man is its helper”. Under this premise Dimitrios Kioutsoukis, his wife Eleftheria and their daughter Stavroula have set up their own project in Thessaloniki in northern Greece. An area known since ancient times for its wines, the whole family left the city and moved there in search of the true taste of life. Passionate about the principles of permaculture, they planted 11 hectares of vines and created Kamara natural wines. To achieve this, each of their wines are fermented naturally with native yeasts, have no added oenological products and are bottled without filtration or added sulphites.

One of their wines, Kamara Nimbus Ritinitis, is an orange wine made from Assyrtiko vines planted in clay loam soil. All work is organic and treatments are carried out with plant-based preparations, compost and manure. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested manually and taken straight to the winery. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out there with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. During this vinification and following an ancient traditional recipe, tree resin is added. This results in a wine with a very specific and original flavour.

With a broad approach to the natural, the Kioutsoukis family presents a wine with a strong Greek tradition. Kamara Nimbus Ritinitis is an orange wine made within the Retsina Traditional Appellation that surprises people with its aromatic complexity, freshness and versatility.

 

2021

Kamara Nimbus Ritinitis 2021 is a fresh orange wine with aromas of tea tree, wet wood and medicinal herbs. On the palate it is fresh, complex and saline. A different and very surprising wine with good structure.
