About Ktima Tselepos Driopi Reserve 2017

It is not the first time that someone who has nothing to do with the world of wine discovers Burgundy and has a great epiphany. That is exactly what happened to Yiannis Tselepos, a Cypriot chemistry student who, after studying chemistry in Burgundy, changed his degree to oenology and discovered the way he really wanted to go. This reached its peak when he set up his own winemaking project in Arcadia, on the Greek island of Peloponnese. Keeping in mind the premise “Nature shows you what it needs”, Yiannis produces purely Mediterranean wines in the AOP Neméa under the name Ktima Tselepo.  

Yiannis’ vineyards are not certified organic or otherwise, but he advocates for sustainability in everything he does. Apart from recognising the intrinsic needs of the grape, the winemaking process follows classic methods in the winery. Ktima Tselepos Driopi Reserve is a red wine of the native Agiorgitiko variety that undergoes a prolonged extraction of 25 days. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (70% new - 30% second hand) and a further 6 months in the bottle.

In connection with the Arcadia ecosystem, Yiannis is fully involved in vinifying one of the native varieties he loves most and this is clear to see in Ktima Tselepos Driopi Reserve. A mature, silky and balanced red wine with immediate warmth.

2017

Ktima Tselepos Driopi Reserve 2017 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of red fruits, notes of eucalyptus and herbal hints. On the palate it is rich, creamy and elegant. A round wine with ripe, silky tannins, a velvety palate and a long finish.
