About La Maison Romane Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice

La Maison Romane Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice is a monovarietal Pinot Noir red wine from the AOC Gevrey-Chamnertin produced by La Maison Romane.

La Maison Romane is a winery founded by Oronce de Beler in 2005. The winery is installed in an old house dating back to the 16th century. Oronce de Beler ploughs the land with its Percheron horses, Prosper and Quarto, thus establishing a special bond with the vineyards that it cultivates. It does not work with chemicals, and follows the principles of biodynamics. It vinifies following the phases of the moon and always working by gravity, without any mechanical pumping that might alter the wines.

The vineyards for La Maison Romane Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice are around 40 years old and have very low yields - around 20 hectolitres per hectare. The wine is made by vatting the harvest whole without destemming, and fermenting it with native yeasts. Once prepared, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 15 to 19 months, a time that will vary according to the vintage and the wine’s potential for keeping. La Maison Romane Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice is not filtered or clarified before bottling, and the minimum amount of sulphites are used during processing.

2015 The Maison Romane Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice 2015 is a luscious and robust wine, exuding scents of raspberry and plum. On the palate, it is succulent, dynamic, and boasts a revitalizing acidity. Its finish is extensive and spiced, with a subtle yet notable hint of pepper.
2014 La Maison Romane Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice 2014 has aromas of cherry and raspberry, with toasted, balsamic and herbal touches. On the palate it reveals a good acidity, medium body and delicate tannins. In short, it is a deep and pleasant wine.
