About La Unidad La Pantera Rosa

It is said by gossipmongers (and those of good repute too) that during the height of the Baroque era, when in Versailles no step was taken without pomp and drama, Marie Antoinette became infatuated with a zebra. Yes, a zebra. Because amidst diamonds, impossible hairstyles, and endless gardens, the only thing that truly astonished her were those impossible stripes that followed no pattern.

Of course, it was brought to court. For who dares to deny a capricious queen? But things did not go as expected. No one could manage it. It was neither ridden, trained, nor constrained. The zebra, untameable by nature, never allowed itself to be domesticated.

This spirit—independent, rebellious, and free—is what inspires La Unidad Viñas y Bodega, the personal project of Manuel Moreno in Cebreros, Sierra de Gredos (Castilla y León). A winemaking venture born from a passion for creating wine with authenticity, without preconceived formulas, with no other aim than to enjoy and share.

The symbol of this project could be none other than a zebra. For such are their wines—natural, honest, creative, impossible to constrain. Born from organic viticulture, from old bush vines at over 900 metres altitude, on poor sandy granite soils and exposed slates. Wines that reflect the pure and vibrant character of Cebreros.

And so is La Unidad La Pantera Rosa. A rosé made from 100% garnacha tinta, sourced from vines over 60 years old, planted on low-fertility sandy soils, which impart concentration and expression to the grapes. In the winery, it ferments at low temperatures in concrete tanks, with an ageing on lees for 8 months.

With a bold, contemporary, and unapologetic image (just look at the name and label), La Unidad La Pantera Rosa firmly embraces freshness, texture, and complexity. A wine that adheres to no moulds or labels. Free, different, with soul. Like that zebra which once challenged the entire French court.

Unidad La Pantera Rosa 2023 is a pale rosé that encapsulates the essence of elegance and freshness. On the nose, it unveils a charming balsamic aroma reminiscent of bay leaf with a subtle hint of camphor. Notes of white fruit, such as pear and apple, intertwine with delicate jasmine flowers, creating a bouquet that invites exploration. On the palate, its acidity is invigorating and its flavours, clear and lively. This rosé, from the 2023 vintage, stands out for its freshness and lightness, qualities that make it irresistible and ideal for those seeking a wine that is easy to enjoy, full of delicacy and flavour.
