About Le Naturel Pet Nat

Pétillant Naturel fits perfectly within the natural wine movement where people produce wines with minimal intervention in the vineyard and winery, using organic or biodynamic growing methods, with no added chemicals and little or no filtration. Also known as the ancient method, unlike the traditional method of making champagne or sparkling wine where the second fermentation takes place in sealed bottles, Pét-Nat involves bottling the wine before fermentation is completely finished, thus generating carbon dioxide gas naturally. Aroa Bodegas, the Vintae group’s project in Navarra, embraces this winemaking method to create its first sparkling wine and carrying the exclusive Wineries for Climate Protection certificate awarded by the Spanish Wine Federation to environmentally sustainable wineries, they present themselves as pioneers of minimal intervention in their region.

Recovering the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, Le Naturel Pet Nat is made from white Grenache grapes from vineyards located in the Yerri Valley in Navarra. These are old vines planted on calcareous soils in the highest and coolest area of the denomination. The grapes are harvested by hand and, once they reach the winery, (modern facilities specially designed for maximum energy efficiency) the wine is vinified with minimal intervention and maximum respect for the vineyard fruit. This is done using the ancient method, i.e. the grapes are first gently pressed and the resulting must begins fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. When the must reaches between 16 and 20 gr/l of residual sugar, it is bottled so that fermentation is completed in the bottle without the addition of sulphur or any other external product. Finally, it is released for sale without disgorging, with the same stopper.

Following the philosophy of minimum intervention and maximum respect, Le Naturel Pet Nat is a sparkling wine that is pure fruit. A representative of the most pioneering natural wines in the Navarra denomination of origin.

 

2021

Le Naturel Pet Nat 2021 is a fruity sparkling wine with aromas of white fruit, stone fruit and also baked goods. On the palate it is fresh, light and deep. A sparkling wine with fine, well-integrated bubbles, bright acidity and a finish with delicate sweet touches.
