Le Vigne di San Pietro can be thought of as “a unique island on the hill of Lake Garda”. So says Carlo Nerozzi, the current owner, second generation and son of the founder, Sergio Nerozzi, who embarked on this adventure in search of a better life. In 1980 Sergio and his wife Franca decided to move from the city to the country. Finally, this dream became a reality in the northwest of Italy, between Lake Garda and Verona (in Veneto). At first Carlo decided to study architecture, but today, against all odds, the story of this winery is still being written with wines like Le Vigne di San Pietro Ho Scritto T'amo sulla sabbia Rosato, a sparkling rosé refermented in the bottle and not disgorged.

The grape chosen to make Le Vigne di San Pietro Ho Scritto T'amo sulla sabbia Rosato is Corvina, a red variety that is native to the area and organically cultivated on the estate’s four hectares of vineyards. Moraine soils of glacial origin (and high mineral content) abound here, alongside clay and limestone soils. The area’s microclimate also has a role to play, and the influence of Lake Garda is key. This blend is perfect for vineyard cultivation, providing high quality vintages. Also, the work is manual, the land is not tilled and the weeds are left to create an ecosystem where herbicides are not needed.

In the winery, the Corvina bunches used to make Le Vigne di San Pietro Ho Scritto T'amo sulla sabbia Rosato are destemmed and macerated for two days at a very low temperature (about 5°C). This results in a grape pulp that is placed directly in steel tanks, where it will begin to ferment. After about a week, when the wine has been made, Le Vigne di San Pietro Ho Scritto T'amo sulla sabbia Rosato is pressed (where the liquid is separated from the marc) and spends six months in stainless steel tanks.
