Tasting notes Maetierra Libalis Frizz 5.5
Other sparkling wines Vegan.
Totally exotic and tropical. The sparkling Libalis Frizz is one of the most striking and curious options. Pale yellow in colour and very clean, this frizzante is loaded with fresh fruit and grapes. The palate is refreshing, with an elegant bubble. Sweet and full of nuances.

About Maetierra Libalis Frizz 5.5
There is also room for whites in La Rioja. And what whites they are! Maetierra is here to prove it.
Twenty years ago, when the fever for Reserva and Gran Reserva wines was stronger than ever, this winery took a step forward by taking a risk with a wine that, at that time, had little, if anything, going on in the market. But that’s not the whole story. In this project, developed in Calahorra (in La Rioja Oriental), the main focus was the recovery of the Moscatel de Grano Menudo, a variety not covered by the D.O.Ca La Rioja. This decision inevitably led to the exclusion of Maetierra from the appellation. In short: two very brave and risky decisions for the time, don't you think?
Be that as it may, the bets have turned out well and today, Maetierra is still standing, investing its efforts in Grano Menudo white wines in all their expressions. The Libalis Frizz frizzante is the sparkling version. Libalis Frizz is grown in Finca Zarcillo and Finca Mejorana, two organic vineyards planted more than 20 years ago, in La Rioja Oriental. In this area, where saline soils are abundant, the vines grow in a dry, warm climate with a strong Mediterranean influence. The north wind also appears here, guaranteeing the correct ripening and health of the bunches. Yields per hectare are low. The grapes are harvested automatically at night, passing the grapes directly to the cellar. First, Libalis Frizz is cold macerated for about six hours before fermentation. Stainless steel tanks will be essential, as this material is the most aseptic and ensures that the wine will not acquire any kind of flavour or aroma. During fermentation, once the wine has reached 5.5° alcohol, Libalis Frizz is cooled in order to stop fermentation. It does not matter if the yeasts have not finished their work, since this is intended to leave some sugar in the liquid and to achieve a slight touch of natural carbonation (although later, during bottling, another touch is added).
La Rioja has a lot to say not only in reds, but also in whites. Just let it speak and listen closely. Why not start the conversation with bubbles of Libalis Frizz?
