About Loess Collection Blanco Rueda

Loess Collection is a barrel-aged white wine made by the Loess winery with the Verdejo variety in the D.O. Rueda.

Located in Roa (Burgos), Loess was set up in 2001 when two experts from the wine sector acquired 6 plots of land in the Denominación de Origen Ribera del Duero to experiment with the Tempranillo variety. Seeing the good results after a short time, they expanded to produce white wines in the Denominación de Origen Rueda. As a result, the winery became one of the great champions of the Castilla y León terroir.

Loess Collection comes from 70-year-old vines located in Nava del Rey (Valladolid). This is a 2 hectare plot with vines planted in bush form and a yield of no more than 4,000 kilograms per hectare. The sandy soil with boulders lies over a clay-limestone terrain in an Atlantic continental climate. They use traditional and environmentally friendly agriculture. 

When the grapes have been harvested, they are taken to the winery in small trailers of less than 1,000 kilograms. Loess Collection is crushed, cold macerated, pressed and the must is settled. It is then racked in new French oak barrels where it remains in contact with its lees for 5 to 7 months with continuous ‘battonages’. Finally it matures with its fine lees in a stainless steel tank until being bottled.

Loess Collection is a white wine that comes in a classy bottle and reveals an original and very elegant authentic Verdejo.
2018 Loess Collection 2018 is an aromatic white wine with notes of flowers and white fruits. On the palate it is fruity, fresh and acidic with a mineral and carbonic touch.
