About Losada Godello

Within the D.O. Bierzo, nestled between the villages of San Lorenzo and San Esteban de Valdueza, clay and slate soils are characteristic. Traditionally, this combination was undervalued, but now, at the Losada winery, there is a commitment to the restoration and preservation of these vineyards. The quality of the old vines, over 30 years of age, is unparalleled. It is within this endeavour that the white wine Losada Godello is born.
 
Losada Godello is a unique single-varietal wine that spends six months on its lees in foudres and concrete eggs. The story of this wine begins, as all do, at the beginning, in the field, where Losada winery engages in entirely sustainable, natural, and manual practices, ensuring the future of the vineyards is not jeopardised. At the helm is the oenologist Amancio Fernández Gómez, who has dedicated all the expertise he has accumulated throughout his career to this project. 
 
Losada Godello is crafted without intervention, maximising the work done in the vineyard and harnessing the full potential of the Godello grape. This variety, native to Galicia (in the northwest of Spain), has shown remarkable adaptability to the microclimate of this region (further south), with its wide thermal contrasts and a certain influence from the Atlantic Ocean.
