About Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Blagny

Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Blagny is a single-variety white wine from Chardonnay classified as AOC Meursault 1er Cru Blagny and made by Louis Jadot.

Louis Jadot is a producing and trading winery founded in 1859 and working exclusively in Burgundy. It manages around 270 hectares of vineyards. In 1995, the winery partnered with Tonnellerie Vicard and founded their own cooperage called Cadus, to make barrels for fermenting and aging their wines. 

The Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Blagny vineyard is located on a gentle slope, that sits between 230 and 360 metres above sea level. It faces east, which brings plenty of sunshine and means the grapes ripen well. The soil is chalky with white marls, which is perfect for Chardonnay cultivation. The Premier Cru Balgny classification only applies to white wines.

The Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Blagny grapes are harvested manually in small boxes to allow the grapes to reach the winery in tact. The grapes are gently pressed and the must is fermented in oak barrels made by the winery’s cooperage. A third of these barrels are new. Finally, they are aged on lees for 15 months before bottling.

Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Blagny is a 1er Cru white wine fermented and aged in barrels with a great body, interesting and complex aromas and a fresh minerality. It has an ageing potential of about 8 to 15 years.
2015 Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Blagny 2015 is a rich wine with a full body that is aromatic in its youth, revealing white flowers, apples and hazelnuts. It will develop over time to give more complex notes of fine ripe fruit, oak, vanilla and mineral touches as well as a full finish.
