About Louis Latour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru

Barrel red wine. Louis Latour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is a Grand Cru monovarietal Pinot Noir red wine from the town of Veugeot in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy. It is produced by Louis Latour.

Louis Latour is one of the most prestigious wineries in Burgundy. The winery was founded at the end of the eighteenth century and has always been owned by the same family. In addition, they manufacture the barrels they use to age their wines in their own cooperage.

The grapes for Louis Latour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru come from 40-year-old vineyards with clay, limestone and gravel soils. The average production is 35 hl per hectare, and the harvest is carried out manually.

These same Veugeot lands were already being cultivated by the Cistercian monks in the twelfth century. The monks ended up having a winery with a capacity that enabled them to house 2,000 barrels. Clos Veugeot is currently the largest Grand Cru vineyard in Burgundy. Its 52 hectares have 80 different owners.

Open wooden vats are used to produce Louis Latour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru. Lastly, once prepared, the wine undergoes ageing for 10 to 12 months in new French oak barrels with medium toasting.

2015 Louis Latour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2015 is a wine with a complex nose that reveals aromas of blackcurrant, mocha, underbrush and touches of violet. On the palate, coffee and cherry notes also appear. It is a powerful, persistent, broad wine with wonderful tannins.
2011 Louis Latour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2011 is a wine with a discrete aroma of wood, and spicy notes that are accompanied by touches of flowers. On the palate we encounter touches of blackcurrant and licorice, and its superb tannins give it a great length and breadth.
