Tasting notes M. Chapoutier Condrieu Coteau de Chery Blanc 2025 en Primeur

White wine Aged on its lees Biodynamic. 11 meses sobre lías.

M. Chapoutier Condrieu Coteau de Chery Blanc 2025 is a white wine that is delicate and expressive on the nose, with citrus zest, yellow-fleshed fruits, and a hint of fresh apricot, gradually unfolding into floral notes of jasmine and bergamot. On the palate, it enters with a velvety smoothness, enveloping, leaving a fleshy sensation where ripe fruit and fresh pineapple coexist with a subtle touch of marmalade and verbena. The finish is long and elegant, with a memory of bitter orange and a fine bitterness that provides balance and leaves the impression of something lingering in the air, even when the glass is still.

About M. Chapoutier Condrieu Coteau de Chery Blanc

There are wines that do not immediately make an impact. They linger momentarily, like the last golden light that falls upon the table when no one is in a hurry to order another round. Such a white wine doesn't need to raise its voice. A mere hint of ripe fruit, white flowers, and warm stone is enough to make everything around seem to slow down a little.

In the northern Rhône (France), where terraces cling to impossible slopes and the vineyard demands near-handcrafted labour, the people of M. Chapoutier have understood for generations that wine begins long before the bottle. There is something almost silent about their approach to biodynamics, as if they prefer to listen to the landscape rather than tame it. Perhaps that is why their wines possess that sense of a real place, of something alive, unadorned.

M. Chapoutier Condrieu Coteau de Chery Blanc is crafted solely from viognier, yet here the variety feels more like a texture than a label. The grapes are hand-harvested; the lees aging and judicious use of oak do not overwhelm: they simply round out the wine, like lowering the music to enhance the conversation. There is breadth, luminous fruit, a subtle creaminess upheld by a very fine mineral tension. It is one of those whites that fills the glass slowly and prompts someone at the table to inquire what you are drinking.

And then something curious happens: the wine ceases to be the protagonist and becomes the atmosphere. An extended dinner. Grilled fish shared in the centre. The city illuminated on the other side of the window. And that rare —yet much sought after— feeling of being exactly where you want to be.
