About Marimar Mas Cavalls Pinot Noir

At Marimar Estate Vineyards & Winery, food and wine are a great celebration, and its owner, Marimar Torres (fourth generation of the prestigious Torres winemaking family) has always known how to care for and combine these two crafts. She has written three cookbooks that bring together the most captivating recipes from her country of origin (“The Spanish Table”, “The Catalan Country Kitchen: Food And Wine From The Pyrenees To The Mediterranean Seacost Of Barcelona” and “The Spanish Table: The Cuisines and Wines of Spain”). She also produces fine wines with the spirit of the old world, becoming a symbol of Spanish wine in the USA.

A great example of her work is Marimar Mas Cavalls Pinot Noir, a red wine that comes from an 8-hectare vineyard planted with three different clones of the French Pinot Noir variety in the AVA Russian River Valley, 10 km from the Pacific Ocean, where the cool breezes and mists create the perfect climate for optimum ripening. The vines are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and yields are low. In the winery, after the grapes have been minimally pressed, the must ferments in small stainless steel tanks with native yeasts at a constant temperature. The wine then ages for 10 months in top quality French oak barrels, 39% of which are new. Finally, it is bottled without filtering or clarifying.

Marimar Mas Cavalls Pinot Noir 2017 is a smooth red wine with elegant aromas of wild black fruit, spicy notes and hints of undergrowth. The palate is smooth, meaty and complex. A medium-bodied wine with fresh acidity, silky tannins and a round finish.
