About Marqués de Cáceres Excellens Sauvignon Blanc

The prestigious Rioja winery Marqués de Cáceres produces this interesting monovarietal of Sauvignon Blanc in D.O. Rueda. Marqués de Cácereshas its own vineyard and the latest technologies to preserve the quality of the grape and express what it and the land have to offer us.

Marqués de Cáceres has 125 hectares of vineyards that are some 30 to 40 years old, at about 750 metres above sea level. In Rueda the continental climate predominates, with an average temperature of 13 ºC, and an average annual rainfall of around 460 mm. The main variety grown by Marqués de Cáceres in Rueda is Verdejo, a variety that is native to the area, but they also grow Sauvignon Blanc, accepted by the D.O. Rueda and very well adapted to the area and to its sandy soils in the lower areas and stony and gravelly soils in the highlands.

Marqués de Cáceres Excellens Sauvignon Blanc is harvested at night. Once in the cellar the grapes are cooled a little more and pressed gently. The must is fermented at 15-17 ºC and the wine is kept with the fine lees until it is stabilised and bottled. By carrying out these operations, the aromas of the grape are better preserved, and a certain creaminess is achieved in the final wine.

Marqués de Cáceres Excellens Sauvignon Blanc is a good example of how Sauvignon Blanc has adapted to Rueda, giving a wine with tropical aromas and those of stone fruit, mineral touches and a pleasant volume and creaminess in the mouth.

2020 Marqués de Cáceres Excellens Sauvignon Blanc 2020 is a lusciously creamy white wine.
