About Marqués de Griñon Caliza

Marqués de Griñon Caliza is a red wine produced by the Marqués de Griñón winery in Valdepusa, a plot owned by the winery since 2002, when it became the first Spanish plot with its own Designation of Origin.

The winery is located in the town of Malpica de Tajo (Toledo).

Marqués de Griñon Caliza is made from Graciano, Syrah and Petit Verdot. The grapes come from vineyards between 15 and 20 years old planted on clay soils with a pure limestone subsoil, hence its name.

The development of Marqués de Griñon Caliza begins with a manual harvest and stripping. Grapes undergo a traditional fermentation and a long maceration for 1 month.

Afterwards the wine is aged in Allier French oak barrels for 10 months. During bottling the wine is neither clarified nor filtered.

2011 Powerful entry, full-bodied and textured. Enveloping and tasty with hints of black and red fruit. Good acidity and well integrated tannins. Very good structure. Long finish.

High layer with ruby rim. Intense and brilliant.

Very good aromatic intensity with predominance of fruity aromas (cherries, blackberries) and herbaceous notes, mineral and toasted flavours.
2010 This red wine is broad, powerful and tasty, filling the mouth with its silky, fleshy and dense texture. Ripe fruit and mineral touches appear. Tannins present. Great structure and good balance. Round. Very long and persisten finish. A magnificent quality/enjoyment/price ratio.

Picota cherry colour with ruby rims, high robe. Intense and bright. Dense, slightly tinted tears stain the glass.

This wine is characterised by intense and powerful aromas. Ripe black fruit prevails accompanied by roasted notes, cocoa and coffee on a nice mineral and slightly vegetal background.

2007 Very large and powerful wine that fills the mouth. Silky, meaty, tasty and dense mid palate. Back ripe fruit and mineral flavours. Good presence of tannins. Great structure for a well balanced wine. Long, lingering aftertaste.

Dark cherry red with touches of garnet and a high robe. Intense and bright. Dense tear.

Intensity and power are the aromatic features of this wine. Prevalence of ripe black fruit accompanied by roasted cocoa and coffee on a nice herbal and slightly mineral background.
2006 Wine with a silky intense personality, but great structure, and noted for its meat and for their persistent and balanced finish.

Deep purple with bright flashes of cherry.

Complex and intense aromas with hints of fruity aromas of forest berries and lush ripe berries that are delicately offset by a subtle minerality and notes of mint.
