About Martí Fabra Selecció Vinyes Velles

Marti Fabra Selecció Vinyes Velles is a red wine produced by the Cellars Marti Fabra, in the D.O Empordà, in the northeast wine region of Catalonia.

Since it was founded 1990 the winery is located in the town of Sant Climent Sescebes in the province of Girona.

Marti Fabra Selecció Vinyes Velles is produced from the varieties Garnacha, Cariñena,Tempranillo, Syrah and Cabernet Suavignon. The grapes originate from very old vines between 50-80 years of age, planted in slate soils in the mountain range of Albera (Alt Empordà).

For its production, after its winemaking process, Marti Fabra Selecció Vinyes Velles is aged for 8 months in french oak barrels.

2016 Martí Fabra Selecció Vinyes Velles 2016 is a mature, complex and concentrated red wine. This vintage displays a perfect balance between the aromas of ripe red fruit and the roasted and spicy notes. On the palate it is powerful, with a good mouthfeel and a lingering and persistent finish.
2013 On the palate, strong and flavoursome, passing is unctuous and robust, leaving sensations of red fruit with light mineral touches. Tannins are very lively and good acidity. Long finish.

Red cherry, full robe with garnet reflections. Deep and intense.

Large aromatic intensity, predominance of red fruit and ripened black fruit combined with roasted, spicy and mineral aromas. Balsamic base.
2011 Good entry, meaty and fruity. With lively and dry tannins. Roasted and smoky aftertaste.

Ruby red high layer. Dark, deep and bright.

Intense and exuberant aromas of ripe red and black fruits. Notes of liquorice and roasted flavours. Balsamic and menthol.
2009 It shows a good and round attack and a mid palate marked by a good acidity and very direct and crispy tannins. Long and persistent finish. It leaves toasted, fruity and mineral notes at retro-olfaction. A complex and rustic red wine with a good value for money.

Intense ruby red colour with maroon edges. Clean and bright, with thin and slightly coloured tears.

As it opens up, the aromas of ripe red fruits with a touch of liquor are released along with earthy notes, balsamic and roasted nuances and a background of outstanding mineral hints.
2008 Powerful, warm and fleshy wine. Dense and silky palate, with a good load of ripe fruit and toasted aromas accompanied by great spicy touches (vanilla, coconut, chocolate). Its great minerality is felt again. It shows a good acidity and slightly dry tannins. Its long finish is dominated by the notes of fruit.

Intense dark and bright cherry red colour, with scarlet edges. High layer. Good tears.

Concentrated aromas among which the powerful minerality reflects the slate soils and wrap the notes of red and black fruit with a hint of liquor, and its elegant toasted and sweet species aromas. When it opens up, these aromas gain in intensity and nuances.
